Well I haven't really been doing much in the way of family tree research as we've been adding to the family tree in a more immediate way! Our son Calum was born last week!text/html2008-03-26T14:15:03+00:00http://www.nryonline.co.uk/phpgedview/Becky WilcoxBorthwick Institute
http://www.nryonline.co.uk/phpgedview/index.php?ctype=gedcom#article7
While on a short break in York during February, I had the chance to visit the Borthwick Institute at the University of York. I was specifically looking for records relating to an ancestor who was a patient at Clifton Hospital. I was extremely lucky to find her admittance details and her case notes, which while brief, had some lovely facts about her appearance which are lovely to have.<br />
<br />
I have to praise the staff at the Borthwick who are extremely helpful and knowledgeable. Definitly worth a visit!text/html2007-08-27T17:05:32+00:00http://www.nryonline.co.uk/phpgedview/Becky WilcoxHoliday Success
http://www.nryonline.co.uk/phpgedview/index.php?ctype=gedcom#article6
While on holiday last week I had the opportunity to visit North Yorkshire County Records Office in Northallerton which was my first visit to a records office. It was a bit daunting using the microfilm readers but was great because I was able to find the first marriage of my 3x great grandfather Thomas Milburn and the reason it had been so elusive was that his name was recorded as Milbron! <br />
<br />
It was also a good holiday because we managed to visit Hutton Rudby and see the graves of many of my direct line ancestors.text/html2007-03-23T16:27:48+00:00http://www.nryonline.co.uk/phpgedview/Becky WilcoxWalton/Fairless Mystery
http://www.nryonline.co.uk/phpgedview/index.php?ctype=gedcom#article5
It has always been an interesting puzzle as why my great-grandfather Clyde was born as Fairless but always known as Walton. Well with thanks to the <A HREF=\"http://www.weardalemuseum.co.uk/\">Weardale Museum</A> it looks like the mystery may be unravelled!<br />
<br />
I emailed the museum to see if they knew of any local history that would shed any light on the situation and they very kindly did some research using their extensive databases of local records.<br />
<br />
It seems that Clyde\'s grandfather John Walton was born before his parents Ralph Walton and Elizabeth Fairless married and therefore was registered as Fairless.<br />
<br />
To make matters even more confusing, Clyde\'s grandmother Margaret (who married John) was also a Walton! Take a look at <A HREF=\"http://www.nryonline.co.uk/phpgedview/pedigree.php?rootid=I55\">Clyde\'s Pedigree Chart</A> which I\'ll be updating with the new information!text/html2007-03-12T16:12:14+00:00http://www.nryonline.co.uk/phpgedview/Becky WilcoxScottish Census
http://www.nryonline.co.uk/phpgedview/index.php?ctype=gedcom#article4
Finally the 1871 and 1891 Census returns are available which I\'m hoping will mean progress on tracing back the Don family (my Grandpa\'s grandmother\'s family) who came from Scotland! <br />
<br />
I\'ve had a quick look and already there\'s confusing records so it looks like another bit of hard sleuthing is needed again!text/html2007-01-08T20:39:27+00:00http://www.nryonline.co.uk/phpgedview/Becky WilcoxBreakthrough on the Wilcox side
http://www.nryonline.co.uk/phpgedview/index.php?ctype=gedcom#article3
After struggling to find James Wilcox c1887 in the census (there are quite a few!) I applied for his birth certificate. I now know who his parents were and have found that our niece Katie, is not the first of that name! text/html2007-01-07T10:12:28+00:00http://www.nryonline.co.uk/phpgedview/Becky WilcoxWelcome!

Hello and welcome to my family tree site. I\'ve been researching my family tree and that of my husband Chris for almost a year but have only just got round to making it available on the web for others to see.<br />
<br />
If you have any corrections to make please feel free to submit them.<br />
<br />
Thanks<br />
